Big balls of steel and a little ... one.

I've never really understood the point of petanque.
Street games that evolve into something a little more sophisticated, do that.
Bowls à la Drake on a green sward, crown bowls, ten-pin bowling, skittles, even (sic) cricket are all fairly well regulated within defined areas of a built environment.
Pitch 'n' toss is another kettle of fish!
And it's so boring! Watch the clip below if you are attached to emotional stasis.

There are times, Sandy, my nan used to say, to tell the truth ("Always!" - Tish) and there are times when a fib is more ... practical ... ("only to protect the innocent!" - Tish) ...

Okay, I am useless at boules!
I played with Sergei yesterday and he walloped me out of the pavilion. He had been practising around the garden - just his throw and his wrist flicks (without balls) so I confronted him.
Now, it seems, I am his pupil. Il y a un temps pour tout!

At least, we're going to a village fête tonight in Saussines. There's to be an
Abravido-Bandido (suis excité) at six-thirty followed by live music and a ball!
See you there!

I heard the cannon, but didn't venture into the Saussines village fete last night.

After a hard day working on an old boat, I just sat by the pool with a cold beer.

Yes, I live in Saussines !

I'll catch up over the weekend.

Appreciate the info!
Unfortunately, we missed out as well.
The day had been too hot and arduous for poor Tish!
